This is pod 9 and 10 doing a science experiment with fidget spinners and seeing whose could spin the longest.                                                                    

We had to do a 'fair test'.  We had to test our fidget spinner 5 times and each time we spun it we timed it to see how long it spun for.

Writing in pod 10

Hi, this is Pod 10's bloggers. We are learning to do descriptive writing about a character.  First you have to make a plan on a sheet of paper that looks like this.
It has:   personality,  looks like,  I like,  I do,  speech and how I make you feel.
Once you have finished your plan you have to make it into a story.  You use the plan to help you
write about your character describing the features like the ones on the plan.

We have done 3 characters so far two of them where teachers and one was an older family member.

Relating to Others

Hi, this is Leo and Lundyn and last week we were writing about relating to others and taking responsible risks. This is Lundyn's story....

"Just have a go Lundyn," pleaded Mum.  Dad got the bike out of the shed and got on the back and I sat at the front.
Dad said "start the engine," and I pushed the go button and drove the quad bike.  My feeling inside were scared, nervous and worried.  Then I drove and drove. I started to go faster and faster.  Then eventually I CRASHED INTO a whole pile of sticks. Dad had to get off and get the bike out of the sticks.  Later on I had another go.  Dad said to go a little faster so I did it.  But something went wrong.
SPLAT ... SOMETHING WENT ONTO MY SHORTS!!!
''AAAHHHHH,'' I screamed. I hopped off and went to get the hose to get the smelly cow dung off.  I'm NEVER doing that again.

Kauri Dieback

Hi this is pod 10 and 9. We have been learning about  Kauri dieback this year.

50% have died because of this disease.
The disease was first found on great barrier
Island.

28% of Kauri Trees are getting the disease.
22% of Kauri Trees are still alive.

People are ignoring the signs and cleaning stations which is not helping the forest.

Reading in Pod 10

In pod 10 we are learning to do reciprocal reading,  reciprocal reading is when you work as a team to read a book.  There are different jobs: The Boss, The Clarifier, The Predictor, The Summariser, The Questioner. 

 

 We have also been practicing reading to self.
