                               My bubble home

As I wait for an escape I get picked up and taken into the garden.  I'm the first and the biggest.  I drift away floating through the air.

I float away from the garden and then out of the street shimmering in the sunlight as I go.  I zoom on the highway like a cheetah, non-stop!   Reaching for the sky and rising through the air.

I'm missing where I was, back in my bottle in my old draw at home.  As I move through the air I recognise this place. It's my home!!  I should go and find my bottle and pop inside it.  Then I can be used again.  I'll be so happy and my owner will be too!

Go Mr Nicholas!

The Strike Show

Today we went to a show called The Strike Show.  Some of the
teachers went on stage. Mrs Olney
was wonder women and Mrs B
was cat women. Mr Nicholas
was the one and only mystery
man lol.  They were quite good at
drumming.  The performers who were in the band were James, Nick and Hannah.  They did a good job.

Amy's Place Value Multiplication

This is how Amy worked out 4 x 61 using
place value:

4 x 61 =
40 x 60 = 240
4 x 1 = 4

240 + 4 = 244

Playground Sounds

After going to the Strike Show today (which was a drumming show) Amy and Campbell realised that the playground has sounds too.

This is what each item sounds like...
BARK: RAIN

SWING: SQUEAKING MICE

JUMPERS:  CHAINS

CLIMBERS:  CLAPPING

TREES:  WATERFALL

SLIDE:  DRUMS

GRASS:  BIG FEET STOMPING

Maths  Games

Here is  Pod 9 and us playing with all of the maths games.
We had so much fun.
Sometimes we even split the class. Some people go
into Pod 9 and some of  the people from Pod 9
come into our classroom.
In Pod 9 we can play maths games on the computer.

Matariki

What is Matariki?

Matariki is a group of stars called the seven sisters.

Every year seven stars come out called the seven sisters of Matariki.  The first time the stars come out is on the 6th of June every year.  When the  Matariki stars  rise into the skies of New Zealand, it signals a month-long celebration across the country for the Māori New Year.   Matariki means ‘eyes of the god’ or ‘little eyes’. Some say that when Ranginui, the sky father, and Papatūānuku, the earth mother, were separated by their children, the god of the winds, Tāwhirimātea, became angry, tearing out his eyes and  throwing them into the heavens. Others say Matariki is the mother surrounded by her six daughters.

Our Weather Poems

With Miss Turner at writing time we made some weather poems.
using similes and metaphors.
Here are three that we think stood out.

First is Luca's

Thunder

The sound of thunder is a
Greek gods shouting.
The lightning is a Greek god's
weapon.
The raining  is the
god's crying.

Next is Lila's

One drop of rain

Rain are nerds falling from the sky.
Rain is like waterfall dribbling from
god.
It's tears of joy dropping down.
like gods tears.

Last but not least Lilly's

  lightning

Striking light aiming for me.
trying to kill me I run for my life.
only finding it booming behind me.
racing behind me. I see lightning
making me cry.
